1st Text in Collection = Anchor Text
We practiced highlighting and taking notes
Explored the option of sending messages/notes to students
Audio (Audio plays one page at a time; hack: you can change page view to 2-page and audio will read TWO pages. WOW!)
Close Read button— models academic discourse
Resources — Includes close read screen casts and, more importantly, the close read application (a downloadable PDF, different from what appears in the Close Reading consumable that students use to take notes and answer questions as they read)
Each reading ends with a Collaborative Discussion question.

There is a skills focus in the back matter of each reading
Analyzing the Text questions follow the piece. And they’re GOOD.
Students can answer these questions online by clicking on the Q button in their student e-book.
Or you could upload the questions and have students answer in Schoology
Critical Vocabulary— allows students to practice vocabulary from the text

2nd Text in Collection = Companion Text (Only in Close Reader Consumable)
Work with this text can be done in consumable or in Student eBook

INTERACTIVE LESSONS
Designed to be a teaching tool
Not something you assign student to do by themselves
These are linked to the performance task at the end of each collection in textbook

We looked at STUDENT RESOURCES
If students write (or copy and paste) Performance Tasks into WRITE SMART they can use and we can use Turnitin.com
But only for the writing tasks in Collections

FYI Site

FOR ARGUMENT’S SAKE
Updated each month
A question is posed to students across the nation and students are asked to vote
